Explore through full moon gatherings the affects on us of this journey. Celebrate the journey of the 13 moons through drum, song, ritual and the sisterhood of women.

Moon’s Dance

Our ancestors recognised the importance of the Moon’s monthly cycle. They developed an understanding of how to live their lives in harmony with her ‘dance’, honouring and working with each phase of her journey rather than fighting her powerful influences.

This is a series of five workshops for women who wish to explore how the Moon’s cycle affects their lives and how to start living in harmony with her changing energies.

The future of our descendants depends upon us finding a way to live with the Earth again and not just live off her.

Life at Gaea

It’s early December and winter is certainly with us now. We’ve had freezing temperatures all day and at night it has got as low as -7C. Not as cold as it got last year but there’s still plenty of time! This morning when I woke up there was about 2cm of snow – Willow even managed to get me with a snowball.

Something that we could do with right now is some warmhearted seasonal entertainment and to this end our long-standing associate Chris Park is joining us on Wednesday 22^nd December to give us his own unique blend of stories and music. Chris is a druid, seasoned storyteller and very talented musician who plays a wide range of instruments, most of which I’ve never heard of! This entertaining evening will take place in the shop and starts at 7pm. Hot drinks and homemade mince pies will be served and the evening costs £12 for adults and £6 for children up to age 16. Space is limited so please be sure to book asap if you want to be certain of your place.

The tearoom will be open from Tuesday to Sunday every day in December up to and including Xmas Eve. This month we are serving Mocha Walnut Slices, Orange Drizzle Cake, Cinnamon and Apple Cake and Homemade Mince Pies.

Here at Gaea we continue to recognize and celebrate the eight festivals that mark the wheel of the year. The next celebration is Yule, also known as the Winter Solstice. This is on Friday 17^th December and at this time we mark the shortest day of the year and the start of the return to light as the days will from now on be getting longer. The celebration starts at 7pm – please bring appropriate clothing and footwear as part of the evening will be outside.

A new cycle of the 10-week Introductory Tarot class starts on Tuesday 1^st February with Chrissie Chevis. This class has been popular in the past and is a great way to start working with the cards. The class is from 20:00 to 21:30 each week and costs £125 which includes a set of tarot cards.

A new monthly Shamanic Practice group starts on Friday 4^th March from 19:30 to 21:00. These evenings are to further our shamanic work, deepening our experience of walking the spirit world. The sessions are open to anyone who has an understanding of shamanic journeying and has attended an introductory class, either at Gaea or elsewhere. These groups are not suitable for absolute beginners. Cost is £9 per evening.

Life at Gaea

It’s mid November and after a stunning display of autumn colours on the trees, most of the leaves are now down after a few heavy frosts and some strong winds. We have been lighting the Rayburn every day for the last few weeks to heat the house and have been stocking up on logs for the winter – a bit late this year but we are still able to get them. Wood is so much nicer to burn than coal – it gives out more heat and is cleaner – it’s also more ecofriendly.

With the arrival of Math, our giant 7-month old puppy we have been going out for a walk every morning. This has helped us to start improving our fitness. It’s also given us the opportunity to collect free wood for our fire – it’s amazing how much there is just lying around if you start to look. Last year it cost us about six hundred pounds to heat the house. This year we’ve spent just over three hundred pounds and will use our free pick ups to provide the rest of the wood. If we keep doing the daily pickups all year round maybe our heating next year will be free!

A lot of people have asked us about our dog as he is quite unusual to look at. Math is a mongrel. His dad is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever and mum is a German Shepherd crossed with a Beauceron (a French herding dog). So that makes Math a Heinz 57. He and Willow are great friends – she has been wanting a dog for a while and he is a very welcome addition to our family. Keri and I have been taking him to training classes for the last six weeks which he loves – we can recommend some great dog trainers if you need classes for your own dog.

Talking of classes 2010 has been fairly quiet and we anticipate that 2011 is likely to be the same so we are keeping to a reduced class schedule for next year. We have finalized the plans and hopefully, courtesy of our web designer, Donna, the new schedules will be available on our website soon. Please contact us if the scheduled dates are not convenient for you as we may be able to arrange alternatives – especially if there are two or more people interested in doing a particular class.
