Life at Gaea
It’s early December and winter is certainly with us now. We’ve had freezing temperatures all day and at night it has got as low as -7C. Not as cold as it got last year but there’s still plenty of time! This morning when I woke up there was about 2cm of snow – Willow even managed to get me with a snowball.
Something that we could do with right now is some warmhearted seasonal entertainment and to this end our long-standing associate Chris Park is joining us on Wednesday 22nd December to give us his own unique blend of stories and music. Chris is a druid, seasoned storyteller and very talented musician who plays a wide range of instruments, most of which I’ve never heard of! This entertaining evening will take place in the shop and starts at 7pm. Hot drinks and homemade mince pies will be served and the evening costs £12 for adults and £6 for children up to age 16. Space is limited so please be sure to book asap if you want to be certain of your place.
The tearoom will be open from Tuesday to Sunday every day in December up to and including Xmas Eve. This month we are serving Mocha Walnut Slices, Orange Drizzle Cake, Cinnamon and Apple Cake and Homemade Mince Pies.
Here at Gaea we continue to recognize and celebrate the eight festivals that mark the wheel of the year. The next celebration is Yule, also known as the Winter Solstice. This is on Friday 17th December and at this time we mark the shortest day of the year and the start of the return to light as the days will from now on be getting longer. The celebration starts at 7pm – please bring appropriate clothing and footwear as part of the evening will be outside.
A new cycle of the 10-week Introductory Tarot class starts on Tuesday 1st February with Chrissie Chevis. This class has been popular in the past and is a great way to start working with the cards. The class is from 20:00 to 21:30 each week and costs £125 which includes a set of tarot cards.
A new monthly Shamanic Practice group starts on Friday 4th March from 19:30 to 21:00. These evenings are to further our shamanic work, deepening our experience of walking the spirit world. The sessions are open to anyone who has an understanding of shamanic journeying and has attended an introductory class, either at Gaea or elsewhere. These groups are not suitable for absolute beginners. Cost is £9 per evening.

More Ceramic Leaf dishes and soap holders by local ceramics worker Elizabeth Browning. These unique dishes are individually made using real leaves and can only be produced in the Autumn. They have been very good sellers in the shop recently and once they’ve gone that’s it until next Autumn!
